Top Ten: Best dog foods part 3

I told you to expect more of these. After researching and looking around at different brands of dog food in online stores, I have gathered and sorted foods that I found worthy and good for dogs. But one thing I noticed is that better-quality dog foods tend to cost a little more than bad-quality foods, because the better ones use better and higher and human grade ingredients while the bad ones use filler grains and cheaper meats so they can sell more food for the dollar. It doesn't cost these companies very much to produce these bad dog foods so they can sell them cheap and still make a profit. Good dog foods, however, cost more because they use top-of-the-line products. These foods below are not in a particular order.

1: Holistic Select

ree

Holistic Select is grain free, so if your dog is allergic to grains, then this is a good food for you. It also has sardine and anchovies as the first ingredient, brown rice, oatmeal, rice, salmon meal, and flax seed as the next. One thing to look out for is the dried beet pulp, which contains a lot of fiber and can cause constipation. But overall, this is a pretty good food.

2: Honest Kitchen

ree

Honest Kitchen is a dehydrated dog food, a trend that has been picking up in the dog food industry for a while. The first five ingredients in this food are dehydrated chicken, organic quinoa, dehydrated sweet potato, dehydrated spinach, and dried parsley, all foods that are safe for humans to eat as well. Also, there are no controversial or bad ingredients as I checked twice.

3: NutriSource

ree

The first five ingredients of this food are chicken, chicken meal, brown rice, barley, and chicken fat. Out of all of the ingredients, only two were bad, which were dried beet pulp and brewers yeast, but the good outnumber the bad and makes this a good food.

4: Newman's Own canned

ree

Many wet dog foods aren't good because they either include too much salt, too much sugar, too little meat, and a lot of fillers. But this is a good canned food because it starts with organic chicken, ocean whitefish, water, organic brown rice, and oat bran. It also has vegetables such as carrots, dried kelp, and carrageenan, a product of dried seaweed.

5: Primal Raw Frozen Formulas

ree

This food has chicken, chicken livers, organic carrots, organic squash, organic kale, organic apples, organic pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and organic broccoli as the first few ingredients. The rest also includes many organic vegetables and a few added minerals. All of this food is completely safe for humans, and that means it is most likely safe for dogs.

6: Wag

ree

Wag is a brand owned by Amazon. To my surprise, this is really a good food! It has chicken, chicken meal, sweet potatoes, and peas as the first four ingredients. However, this food has dried beet pulp, which is high in fiber. But to counter that off, it has salmon oil, dried egg, dried chicory root, and flax-seed.

7: Forza10 Legend

ree

Forza10 has lamb meal, potato, fava beans, potato starch, vegetable oil and fish oil as the first ingredients. I looked everywhere on the ingredients for corn and wheat, and found none. However, I found dried yeast, which can repel fleas and has 45% protein.

8: Stella & Chewy's Dinner Patty's

ree

This is another freeze-dried food. The first ingredients are duck with ground bone, turkey, turkey liver, goose, turkey gizzard, pumpkin seed, and organic cranberries. With farther investigation, the food doesn't seem to have anything wrong with it. However, this version is misleading because there is no beef in this food and the protein seems to be bird based.

9: Earthborn Holistic Venture

ree

This food has rabbit meat, pumpkin, tapioca, Alaskan Pollock meal, sunflower oil, flaxseed, and salt. After looking through the ingredients, I found no grains as promised and no negative ingredients

.

10: Whole Paws

ree

Whole Paws is a company owned and ran by Whole Foods Market. Unlike many grocery store owned foods, this food has no grains, has real meat as the first two ingredients, and has no added colors. However, many pet owners claimed that this food has gave their dog diarrhea, so try at your own risk.

Since this is my third one, I have reviewed thirty different brands of dog food that are good for your dog. Don't worry, I have more coming as more and more dog food brands keep coming out. Maybe these new brands are good and can knock bad foods out and we can easily find our dogs good and healthy food. Happy reading, and of course, Canine Good.
