Dry, wet, semi-moist, or fresh dog food? It seems there are hundreds of different flavors of food to feed your dog! But what is better for them? Dry, wet, or fresh?
Dry dog food

Dry dog food is made by mixing wet and dry ingredients and making a dough. The dough is then put in a machine that pushes the dog food into different shapes and dries it so that the food is hard. Many pet owners, and me, use dry dog food to feed your dog. It has many bonuses such as being able to keep the food in the bowl for a long time without spoiling it. And the crunching action of the food helps keep teeth clean. But there are so many different brands to choose from! Having trouble choosing? Check out the article I made that covers ten different brands of food. And dry food tends to lose proteins and nutrients during the drying process. Your dog also needs a lot of water with this food. And elder dogs may have trouble eating.
Wet dog food

Wet dog food is made by grinding and shredding different meats or other protein and then a 'gravy' made of different vitamins and added on top. The food is then baked to sterilize it. As a result, wet dog food has a higher moisture rate then other dog foods. A neat feature about wet food is that it is perfect for older dogs that have trouble eating or dogs that are picky. It can also be used as a topper for dry food to give the dog extra protein. But the problem with wet food is that it can't be kept out for to long because it will spoil and make your dog sick.
Semi-Moist dog food

Semi-moist dog food is made by mixing both dry and wet dog foods together and baking it at low temperatures, to help maintain the food and keep it at around 40 to 60% moisture. This food is also great as a topper to dry food and makes excellent food for puppies and old dogs. A problem with this food is that it can have too much sugar or salt, or both, and that can lead to problems in certain dogs. It's also more expensive then other kinds of factory-made dog foods.
Fresh dog food

Fresh dog food is made with either chicken, rice, or fish, carrots, peas, broccoli, vegetable oil, and sometimes sugar or salt. This food is good because you know what goes in it. You can either make it yourself or buy it, though it's cheaper to just make it yourself. This food is even safe for humans, if you really wanted to eat it. This food can not be left out so the dog must eat it as soon as you put it down. This food can be microwaved or served cold. It's good for all life-stages. A downfall is that it can be costly, as meat prices continue to serge these days. It's also time-consuming.
My personal rankings
Dry Food: Dry food will always be my #1 choice in dog food. It's cheap, it's easy to care for, and it comes in bulk so you'll have plenty for months.
Fresh food: Fresh Food will be second to me because I love the fact that I know what goes into my pooches food.
Semi-Moist Food: This food will be a topper to dry dog food. I like how easy it is to prepare.
Wet dog food: Wet dog food will never come into our house. It's not very healthy, it comes in small portions, it smells bad, and the dog must eat it quickly or it will spoil.
